Unite Forums

Unite Forums was built to be a next generation forum platform. Created for the power user and new user alike, it stood out in its ability to incorporate ease of use, simple customization, and promote more direct conversations. In addition to allowing users to create stylish online message boards, it provided enthusiasts with different interests the tools to create their own networks, message each other, and cross-pollinate with communities of similar interests.

title

The unite project required a great deal of user interface knowledge and expertise to create something that would be engaging, simple to use, and easily customizable. Regarding user experience, we worked carefully to create a product that would appeal to the novice as well as the typical forum enthusiast.

From a marketing perspective, we kept the look and feel of the front page light and fun. A playful logo with an informative tagline beneath it quickly explains to the user that the experience of this product will be like. Just beneath it we worked hard to ensure that the explanation of main features were kept above the fold by utilizing a javascript slider to quickly browse between them. An invitation to search/browse communities is prominently displayed in the top right of the design just above the opportunity for registered users to sign in. Beyond that, marketing information in greater detail and illustration can be found just below the fold.

Diving deeper into the site, we created a layout that would expand with the browser to maximize the use of screen space without using tables to constrain the layout and hinder search performance. Rounded corners, complementary colors, and subtle hints of dimension add to the aesthetic which is easily customized by the user. A careful mix of transparent imagery and javascript color selection tools allow even the newest of users a quick and easy dashboard to manipulate their design and add personality to their new community. Past styling options, an advanced administration system allows the user to modify their board and profile with only a few clicks.

This design incorporates search engine optimization, standards based design, blog integration, social media integration, a custom admin interface, content network tools and so much more. Overall it was an incredible project to be a part of and a design that we are very proud of.
